[Rework] Nephalem

Class

Must steal decline from others to class up.


  1. Clockborne:
    Half angel, half demon beings are known as "clockborne" people. They have the ability to steal time from other people and are born with a pretty big decline compared to other races and do not age physically.[1x Power]

  2. Spectre:
    At this point people they're known as spectres, people who drift from place to place stealing time from unsuspecting victims before moving onto the next place. They aren't very strong, so they usually have to be on the move due to a lot of people being after them.[2x Power, 9 Bonus Decline]

  3. Watcher:
    Nephalem usually become much more wise with their use of Aevum (the ability that allows them to steal decline from others) and start to watch and stalk the people who they're going to drain life from.[3x Power, 27 Bonus Decline]

  4. Epoch:
    Due to their strength and ambiguous age they're known as "people of all eras".[4x Power, 54 Bonus Decline]

  5. Lich:
    By this point they are thought to bring nothing but death to all those around them. Whether it is due to simply outliving them, stealing of decline or outright killing people they're known as "Lich" by the few people who know of their identity.[5.0x Power, 90 Bonus Decline]


Age
Nephalem start with a decline of 75 and have an ability called "Aevum" which allows them to steal decline from others. They reach mental and physical maturity at 8. They can get to a maximum decline of 201, the highest in the game.

Realm
Nephalem are usually born in the Spirit Realm or the Demon Realm unless their mother gives birth elsewhere, of course.

Do they not obtain flight as well? And what of half angel half humans? Are those also Hanyou, because then I don't think -that- would fit in.

Decline stealing is certainly scary, now lust demons have a new contender.

I also notice they can seemingly obtain up to 180 bonus decline from rank ups alone, so would that be a possible max decline (without items) of 345? I like how they're weak to make up for this, considering they'll have the most time potentially to wrack up stats. However one thing this guide doesn't easily explain is how classing up works. how much time stealing needs to be done from rank to rank.

Nephilim (half humans half angels) and Atavistic Humans(people who have no dominant blood in them) will both be getting a rework. They don't start with flight anymore, Angels won't either, I'm going to give them something unique but I'm not sure what yet.

You have to read decline like you're reading power. When they go from class4 to class5 they get an increase of 36 decline. Not that they get another 90 decline.

After I'm done the reworks I'll post a topic that explains how all the racial skills work. Aevum takes 2 decline from the enemy and gives the user 3 decline. It has a 2 year cooldown though and can be used a maximum of 30 times. That is where Nephalem's bonus decline is coming from(other races get theirs just from classing up). 3 times to get class 2(meaning you got 9 bonus decline), 9 more times to get class 3 (12 uses in all, you've got 27 bonus decline now), etc. After you've used it 30 times you've got 90 bonus decline, added to 75 you start with leaves you with 165 max decline(which is A LOT). They only have a 5x power mod at max though, so it balances out.

Ohhh. With such a similar name, I got this race confused with the old Nephilim. Advanced telepathy eh? Interesting.

I also feel like that makes Nephalem's by far the weakest race. It feels like it'd take even longer than angels to class up, if it takes six years for just the FIRST rank up. And incredibly weak power multipliers the whole way through. Almost feels like there's no point to go them, instead of angel. Its just about the same thing the whole way through, but with more time needed to rank up, and no way to speed it up, and a weaker final mod. With a bit more decline tacked on at the end.

Yeah, they're probably gonna be a little weak. They have such a small multiplier that I don't mind giving them a lot of decline to work with. I'll let them be able to steal decline until they've got 201 decline. You're living pretty much twice as long as most races with their class5 decline boost. They get a much longer time to live/train and this means they can work on things like getting powerful ora items.

I suppose in pursuit of the ora items, that would make more sense. Maybe give them a coded rank with a sizable mana boost, or something. Their ascensions are certainly for the patient type, or for high speed servers.


Edit: IF the ascensions don't' directly give you decline, does that mean if a rank 5 angel and rank 5 demon mated, it would create a 5x power nameless but with only the base decline?

While ascension doesn't give you decline, it still sets the players' bonus decline and Aevum usage numbers to the correct amount. So they would spawn with 165 decline, with 12 Aevum uses left.

Oh snap. This begs a follow up question however, what happens if these half breed races themselves create a child? Say, a nephalem and a human, or a nephilim and a nephalem.Do the children simply have the option of making after the mother, or father, without the third option to mix from both?

There is a blood system in place. Depending on the blood amounts, you become a certain race.

50%> Human Blood (only) = Human

50%> Demon Blood (only) = Demon

50%> Angel Blood (only) = Angel

<25% Human Blood + <25% Demon Blood + <25% Angel Blood = Atavistic Human

50%> Human Blood + 25%> Demon Blood = Hanyou (can be 50 demon, 25 human)

50%> Human Blood + 25%> Angel Blood = Nephilim (can be 50 angel, 25 human)

50%> Demon Blood + 25%> Angel Blood = Nephalem (can be 50 angel, 25 demon)

Nephalem (50AB/50DB) + Human (100HB) = 25AB/25DB/50HB
Human Dom || 25AB/25DB/50HB || You can be a Human.
Nephalem Dom || 25AB/25DB/50HB || You can be an Atavistic.
Mix || 25AB/25DB/50HB || You can be Hanyou or Nephilim

Nephalem (50AB/50DB) + Nephilim (50AB/50HB) = 50AB/25DB/25HB
Nephalem Dom || 50AB/25DB/25HB || You can be a Nephalem.
Nephilim Dom || 50AB/25DB/25HB You can be a Nephilim.
Mix || 50AB/25DB/25HB || You can be a Nephilim or a Nephalem.

Wow! what's an Atavistic human then? And if you're equally probable for say, Nephilim or Nephalem, do you get to choose? or is it randomly selected? (For example if you picked the "mix" offspring selection instead of basing yourself on either parent.)

Atavistic Human is pretty much a race that has no dominant blood. If you have multiple races you can be from the mix or choosing a dom parent, you get to choose which one you want to be.
